Tides

July 19, 2011

I look around and see disrupted goals,
there is no star in the east or paved highway to purpose
there is no fountain of youth or secret serum of life

big change will soon come,
the end times are around the corner,
the day of judgment, the day of reforming,
I will be turned inside out like socks in the dryer
my soul will shine where once there was only skin
my heart will pump with the warmth of love,
when before it was only blood
every breath will be Holy, filled with spirit and song,
the clear water will hold me and I will be at home.

As it is now shall forever be
so I dig my feet into the earth,
and pick my head up to see,
my Lord is with me,
kingdom and all
here and now.

Holy holy holy
no one has ever known me
the way you have and shown me,
the way to live in love,
and love in life
Thank God

Very good! I wish I could write poetry.

  2. Derek, you poem speaks well of a future hope of glory that does not excuse us from living — indeed demands that we live — in the here and now. I especially liked:

so I dig my feet into the earth,
and pick my head up to see,
    my Lord is with me,
    kingdom and all
    here and now.

    God bless!

    • Thank you for the comment and thanks for reading! It’s all by His grace. God bless you too!

  3. Sorry, I meant to write “… your poem …” 🙂
